Viscofan’s collagen solutions business unit is a strategic and expanding part of the Viscofan Group, going far beyond traditional collagen casings for cured meats and focusing on advanced nutrition, health and biomedical products, drawing on the company’s decades of experience in the industrial processing of collagen.

Viscofan has advanced technological centres for the production of collagen casings in Spain and Germany within the EU. In addition, Viscofan BioEngineering is based in Weinheim (Germany), where both nutritional ingredients and biomedical materials based on high-purity bovine collagen are developed and manufactured. This division draws on the company’s historical knowledge of collagen, now applied to new high-value-added uses in sectors such as nutrition and wellbeing, biomedical research and regenerative medicine, as well as life sciences applications and medical devices.
