The cluster delivers a workshop at LCI Barcelona on Leather, the Circular Economy and Sustainable Fashion
On Wednesday 17 February, Leather Cluster Barcelona delivered an online workshop for students of the international design school LCI.
Founded in 2013 following the partnership between LCI Education and the Escola de Moda Felicitat Duce, LCI Barcelona is a leading higher education school in the field of design training that attracts students from all over the world.
The young students were able to immerse themselves in the leather ecosystem, in a tailor-made training day that featured various masterclasses ranging from the circular economy to sustainable fashion.
Divided into three main structural thematic blocks, the training programme customised for LCI was delivered by qualified trainers from different fields, combining experts and university lecturers.
The first block, more focused on leather, covered the nature, structure, processes, properties and quality controls of leather, with the participation of research staff from the A3 Leather Innovation Center research centre at the Igualada Campus – Universitat de Lleida.
The second block focused on Sustainability and the Circular Economy, addressing topics such as the valorisation of by-products and waste as resources, wastewater treatment and sustainable fashion.
The third block provided training on the applications of leather in design, an experimental masterclass on adapting leather within designs, with personalised guidance from Ricard Vila, Master’s Degree in Product Design and Development.
This distinctive training, combining different thematic blocks of knowledge, was very highly rated by LCI Barcelona students and will make a very positive contribution to their education.
