The training experience forms part of the European project Metaskills4TCLF

As part of the European Metaskills4TCLF programme, the students of the La Gaspar Municipal School of Art and Design in Igualada have had the opportunity to visit A3 Leather Innovation Center – UdL.

A3 Leather Innovation Center is the research group of the Universitat de Lleida (UdL) specialising in the leather production chain. The A3 Center's research focuses on innovation, quality and the environment, with an emphasis on the sustainability of manufacturing processes and on the application of new technologies and advanced materials.

During the visit, the LaGaspar students were able to learn at first hand about the leather colouring process, as well as to understand the technologies and methodologies used in this key area of raw material transformation.

Within the framework of the European project Metaskills4TCLF, this training experience has allowed the students to complement their theoretical knowledge with a practical, technological approach, reinforcing sustainability and innovation within the leather production process.

The Metaskills4TCLF project is funded by the European Commission's Erasmus+ programme with 4 million euros, involves 36 partners from 11 different countries, began in September 2023 and runs for four years.

The Metaskills4TCLF project aims to keep taking steps to face the challenges of the digital era within a framework of transition towards a greener economy in the textile, clothing, leather and footwear sectors, with the development of new curricula and teaching materials with innovative content, learning tools and training in virtual reality.

In this European project, A3 Leather Innovation Center – UdL, together with other European knowledge centres, is responsible for organising the course content, while Leather Cluster Barcelona contributes to the dissemination and promotion of the project's results.

Leather Cluster Barcelona is an environment of competitive cooperation for promoting cross-cutting, transformative strategic projects with the aim of driving the ecosystem of the Catalan leather sector within the framework of Shared Value policies. The cluster is an entity accredited under the Catalonia Clusters programme and is supported by Acció.
