MOOC LEATHER TECHNOLOGIST

MOOC - Leather Cluster Barcelona trainingLast Tuesday 8 June, Leather Cluster Barcelona, with the support of the UdL and Acexpiel, organised a presentation webinar in which experts from A3 Leather Innovation Center set out an innovative online training proposal: MOOC LEATHER TECHNOLOGIST.

Anna Bacardit and Sílvia Sorolla, of A3 Leather Innovation Center – UdL, who are leading this European project, first explained the advantages of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), open, massive and free online courses whose aim is to share and disseminate knowledge through the materials that teaching staff upload to the web and the discussions that arise.

In the case of MOOC LEATHER TECHNOLOGIST, there will be two free 15-hour in-person pilot courses, aimed at companies in the leather sector and its value chain, to be taught at the facilities of the Igualada Campus.

Course A, the leather process in tanning and post-tanning operations, taught by Felip Combalia, from 5 to 9 July from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.; and course B, leather finishing operations, taught by Anna Bacardit from 12 to 16 July, also from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. To register, you can send an email to [email protected] or [email protected].

These courses are an excellent opportunity for companies in the leather industry value chain to offer their workers a qualified vocational training option.

The session went on to review the rest of the training on offer relating to the leather sector at the Igualada – UdL Campus today, highlighting the university Master's Degree in Leather Engineering. Unique in Europe, it provides the scientific, technological and management knowledge required to plan, calculate and design products, processes, facilities and plants in the field of leather engineering, applying quality and environmental management systems.

The Igualada – UdL University Campus and A3 Leather Innovation Center, as centres that provide training, research and innovation to the sector, are fundamental and absolutely strategic pillars for Leather Cluster Barcelona. With the collaboration and shared commitment of the cluster, they are a means of helping to increase the competitiveness of member companies, facilitating innovation in the sector, integrating the leather sector globally within the framework of the circular economy, delivering high-quality training and stimulating the economy.
