The world’s leading trade fairs for the leather industry in the fashion field, Première Vision and Lineapelle, are gradually returning to normality after two years conditioned by the pandemic. These two major events, held in two of the world’s fashion capitals, Paris and Milan, took place this February to present the new spring-summer 2023 collections.

From 8 to 10 February the French capital hosted Première Vision Paris, the benchmark international trade fair in the fashion sector. More than 1,000 companies from 41 different countries exhibited at the event, which received some 21,300 visitors, 24% more than at the September edition. International presence also grew at this February edition, with 57% more foreign buyers.

A total of ten tannery companies belonging to Leather Cluster Barcelona took part, exhibiting their leather articles at these two major international showcases where expert fashion professionals from all over the world gather in search of new products, trends and accessories.

On the other hand, Lineapelle, one of the oldest and most prestigious international trade fairs for leather, accessories and components for the footwear, leather goods, clothing and furniture industries, is being held this week in Milan. According to figures from the organisers, 960 brands from 31 different countries will attend the Italian event. The main exhibitor will be Italy (69%), followed by Spain (8%), Turkey (6%), France and Portugal (3%).

At these two great international fashion events, Première Vision and Lineapelle, in addition to the presentation of the new products, trends, styles and colours in leather and fashion accessories for the season to come, conferences, talks and round tables are organised in parallel during the event. Biodegradability, the circular economy in the fashion sector, the correct use of the term leather and the false perception that vegan alternatives are more sustainable because they are of non-animal origin are some of the debates that have been generated around these conferences.

Leather Cluster Barcelona is an environment of competitive cooperation for promoting cross-cutting, transformative strategic projects with the aim of driving the ecosystem of the Catalan leather sector. The cluster is an accredited entity within the Catalonia Clusters programme and is supported by Acció.
