The feast of Sant Jordi is one of the most special celebrations for all Catalans, when books, roses and culture fill the towns and cities of Catalonia on one of the best-loved days of the year here.
To celebrate this magical day, we at Leather Cluster Barcelona encourage you to give an everlasting rose. At the shop of the Igualada Leather Museum you will find leather roses from the Leather Cluster Barcelona tanneries, handmade by the artisan workshops that are members of the cluster, Nquart and Evegé.

Also to mark the occasion, the Museum is celebrating Sant Jordi by offering schools a leather craft workshop. This is a hands-on workshop in which children will be able to make the DRAC REK using recycled hides from the cluster's tanneries. The piece is die-cut and the task consists of gluing the crest onto the dragon's body and decorating it with small pieces of leather or felt-tip pens. It is easy to make and can be adapted to all educational stages.
The activity, which is free of charge, takes place from 16 to 26 April in the mornings in the Museum's workshop space or in the courtyard. Advance booking is required by calling the Igualada Leather Museum on 93 804 67 52 or by emailing [email protected].
On the day of Sant Jordi, the Museum will have its own stall in Plaça de Cal Font in Igualada, where the workshop will be open to everyone with no advance booking required.
The design of the DRAC REK piece is by Sandra Quílez, master leather artisan and restorer. She owns the NQuart leather craft shop in Vic and was awarded the Restaura 2020 prize for her work conserving and restoring leather and hide elements in various spaces and museums, most notably the leather furniture of Palau Güell.
Leather Cluster Barcelona donated the hides for this educational leather craft workshop.
