Quimser SA is a family business with more than 50 years of experience in manufacturing chemical products for the leather industry, exporting two thirds of its production.

The need to reduce the environmental impact of the use of hazardous chemical components and to protect consumers and workers gave rise to the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) programme.

ZDHC is a non-governmental programme that sets standards for eliminating hazardous chemicals in textile and leather production. More than 100 global brands and many suppliers in the leather industry take part in the ZDHC programme and ensure compliance with ZDHC requirements throughout their supply chain.

After achieving ZDHC level 1 in 2022, in 2024 Quimser has obtained levels 2 and 3, thereby confirming its commitment to the leather sector and to sustainable, responsible manufacturing.

Greater safety and confidence

ZDHC gives certified companies and those who use their products the assurance that these comply with its restricted substances list (ZDHC MRSL v3.1), which is obtained with level 1, and that they have been manufactured responsibly, in accordance with the standards of ZDHC levels 2 and 3. For Quimser’s clients, this guarantees maximum safety and confidence.

Committed to sustainability

Obtaining ZDHC Level 3 certification, the highest in its category, represents important recognition of the company’s commitment to safety and sustainability. Quimser foresees a great future for natural leather, with the collaboration of all the players in the value chain towards the shared objective of sustainable development.

Leather Cluster Barcelona is an environment of competitive cooperation for promoting cross-cutting, transformative strategic projects with the aim of driving forward the ecosystem of the Catalan leather sector within the framework of Shared Value policies.
