From 8 to 10 July the Moroccan Denim & Fashion Cluster team carried out a three-day mission to Catalonia at the invitation of Modacc, the Catalan fashion cluster.

As part of the Moroccan delegation’s activities in Catalonia, various clusters were visited, including Modacc, Beauty Cluster, Indescat and Leather Cluster Barcelona.

The Moroccan cluster, based in Casablanca, is an organisation whose aim is to improve skills in the textile, leather and fashion sector in Morocco.

Moroccan Denim & Fashion Cluster is a key player in energising the innovation ecosystem in the textile and leather sector and in the sectors involved in the development of contemporary and traditional fashion in Morocco. The cluster works in these main areas of action: the development of sustainable materials and processes, the digitalisation and automation of processes, and innovation in design.

The mission of the Moroccan cluster team is an activity framed within the Euromed Clusters Forward programme led by ANIMA Investment Network, whose aim is to involve countries in cooperation intended to transform their economies while respecting the needs, interests and challenges of each one, to improve the performance of business support policies and institutions in order to contribute to the wellbeing of their populations and to sustainable development, and to promote companies that create value for society.

During the meeting at Leather Cluster Barcelona, the representatives of the Moroccan Denim & Fashion Cluster were able to experience the leather production process at first hand through a visit to the Curtits Badia tannery.

Next, at the Adoberia Bella, the Moroccan delegation attended an introduction by Jordi Vidal on the cluster’s ecosystem, projects and strategic challenges. The executive director of Leather Cluster Barcelona then gave a presentation focusing on the leather sector as a key player in the Circular Economy and Sustainable Fashion.

This day with the Moroccan cluster, invited by Modacc, the Catalan fashion cluster, takes place in a context of inter-cluster cooperation. It is likewise an opportunity to broaden the international profile of Leather Cluster Barcelona.

Year after year, the activities, training sessions and guided routes organised by the cluster have brought professionals from a range of fields and from more than 40 countries to visit the ecosystem and the leather theme park that Leather Cluster Barcelona encompasses.

Leather Cluster Barcelona is an environment of competitive cooperation for promoting cross-cutting, transformative strategic projects with the aim of driving the ecosystem of the Catalan leather sector within the framework of Shared Value policies. The cluster is an accredited entity within the Catalonia Clusters programme and is supported by Acció.
