The European project Metaskills4TCLF, in which Leather Cluster Barcelona participates together with A3 Leather Innovation Center-UdL, continues to advance in its mission to modernise the skills of the textile, clothing, leather and footwear (TCLF) sector.

The Metaskills4TCLF project aims to keep taking steps to address the challenges of the digital era within a framework of transition towards a greener economy in the textile, clothing, leather and footwear sectors, developing new curricula and teaching materials with innovative content, learning tools and virtual reality training. The project’s purpose is to incorporate digital metaverse technologies to improve training and talent.

This April, with the presence of A3 Leather Innovation Center-UdL, the fourth meeting of the “Train the Trainers” programme was held in Padua (Italy), a key project initiative aimed at training professionals and trainers from different European countries. These sessions make it possible not only to delve deeper into the content and methodologies developed by the project, but also to acquire the tools needed to implement them effectively in classrooms and training environments, thus ensuring a real impact on the sector’s future workforce.

The meeting in Padua brought together trainers and teachers from various places who had the opportunity to:

  • experience first-hand virtual reality (VR) training modules, simulating real industrial environments;
  • explore how immersive learning can be integrated into vocational training (VET) pathways in the textile, fashion, leather and footwear sectors;
  • delve into methodologies to design engaging courses that combine technical content, virtual simulation and competency-based assessment;

These sessions also become spaces for strategic reflection, where participants can share experiences and jointly analyse the current challenges of the TCLF industry, especially in areas such as digitalisation, sustainability and innovation.

The final meeting will take place in Porto on 16, 17 and 18 June, where the “Train the Trainers” programme will be closed and the results and learnings achieved will be shared.

This Metaskills4TCLF project reinforces Leather Cluster Barcelona’s commitment to training, knowledge transfer and boosting the competitiveness of the leather sector at a European level.
