Leather Química SLU is a company of the Mathiesen Group, dedicated to the production, marketing and supply of high-quality chemical products for the tanning industry.

Based in Igualada and with more than 15 years of experience in the leather sector, Leather Química offers a wide range of solutions for the different production processes of leather tanning.

Its technology enables it to offer a complete assortment of chemical specialities for the manufacture of tanned leather in accordance with international quality standards, which underpin Leather Química’s ISO 9001:2015 certification.

It has application and development laboratories, which allow it to offer the possibility of manufacturing its own products, together with comprehensive technical assistance from specialist staff.

The company has been investing in research, development and innovation for many years with the aim of taking a comprehensive approach to processes based on sustainability. As a result of this strategy, last year it presented the Leathertech product range, a technology developed specifically for the leather industry.

All Leathertech products are designed to provide innovative solutions for tanneries. The aim is to add value to leather, a natural and sustainable product by definition, by investing in more sustainable processes based on the circular economy in order to obtain more biodegradable and environmentally friendly leathers.

Leather Química are pioneers in implementing a versatile hide stabilisation process, the ER system, which makes it possible to reduce waste and add value to the hide before tanning.

In the beamhouse they work to minimise the use of chemicals through alternative tanning options, paying particular attention to biodegradability.
