This European project aims to strengthen generational renewal in the leather sector

At Leather Cluster Barcelona we are pleased to announce that the European project NextGen Leather & Footwear Technician has now been officially presented on the European projects platform.

The main objective of this initiative is to strengthen generational renewal within the sector, promoting the training of new professional profiles adapted to the current needs of the leather and footwear industry. The project places special emphasis on knowledge transfer, innovation and attracting young talent to the sector.

Training and talent attraction, especially in the more technical professional profiles, is one of the concerns that Leather Cluster Barcelona members have expressed during the personalised visits carried out by the cluster’s working team.

The NextGen Leather & Footwear Technician project is a strategic commitment to ensuring the continuity and competitiveness of our ecosystem in the long term, aligned with the transformation challenges the industry faces.

With the aim of consolidating its international projection, Leather Cluster Barcelona positions itself as an active player in the development of European projects geared towards innovation, training and the transformation of the leather sector.

Participation in projects like this is perfectly aligned with the three main strategic lines of the Leather Cluster Barcelona Master Plan for the 2025-2030 period: the cluster’s economic self-sufficiency, the building of European prestige and positioning, and the generation of real impact for member companies.

Once results on the evaluation of the NextGen Leather & Footwear Technician project are available, they will be shared with all members.
