Leather Cluster Barcelona takes part in REC.0 Experimental Stores once again

After two years of interruption due to the pandemic, this May saw the return of REC.0, the leading fashion, heritage and culture event in Catalonia.

The festival held its 21st edition and, on its return, once again drew a great response from the public, with more than 100,000 people passing through during the four days of REC.0.

Leather Cluster Barcelona has taken part in REC.0 once again, joining the programme with a range of cultural activities.

Together with the Igualada Leather Museum and Curtits Badia, and with the support of Igualada Town Council and Acció, the cluster organised free guided tours of the Cal Granotes museum tannery and of Curtits Badia, and ran children’s workshops at the Adoberia Bella to play with leather.

On the guided tours of the museum and of Curtits Badia, visitors were able to learn, on the one hand, about the craft process of leather tanning in the 18th century and, on the other, about today’s industrial process for tanning quality leather.

As for the children’s workshops held at the Adoberia Bella, one hundred children aged 3 to 12 enjoyed leather-based crafts and games and were able to learn that leather is a waste product of the food sector which the tanning industry takes as a by-product and turns into a range of articles that are useful to society.

In the various cultural activities held as part of REC.0, which attracted large numbers, Leather Cluster Barcelona took the opportunity to champion the leather industry among all those attending as an example of the Circular Economy and Sustainable Fashion.

Leather Cluster Barcelona is an environment of competitive cooperation for promoting cross-cutting, transformative strategic projects with the aim of driving the ecosystem of the Catalan leather sector. The cluster is an accredited entity within the Catalonia Clusters programme and is supported by Acció.
