On Monday 3 November, Leather Cluster Barcelona took part in a new session on business awareness and workplace culture organised at the Fundació de la Unió Empresarial de l’Anoia (UEA). Together with the companies Fruits Secs Torra and Calaf Grup, the cluster took part in this activity, aimed at a group of newly arrived young people from the reception centre in Òdena and Hostalets de Pierola and from the labour integration flats in Piera and Igualada, which offered a first-hand look at the business reality of the area.

The session forms part of the Ponts de Futur project, a joint initiative between the Consell Comarcal de l’Anoia —through its Migration, Coexistence and Community Action Unit— and the Fundació UEA. The project’s aim is to provide young people with spaces for learning, guidance and connection with the local productive fabric.

During the session, the young people were able to see at first hand how different companies work, to understand the workplace culture of our environment and to hear the testimony of workers who have progressed throughout their professional careers. This direct contact is an essential step in broadening horizons and strengthening young people’s opportunities for integration and for the future.

In addition to the information and discussion session, the young people were able to visit two companies: the chemical sector company ABC Global Solutions and the tannery Curtidos Badia, where they enjoyed seeing the leather production process live and the different work areas, sharing the experience with the workers.

The young people took an active part in this Fundació UEA event, showing interest, willingness and, above all, a desire to enter the world of work in order to learn and to have better prospects for the future.

At Leather Cluster Barcelona we continue working to bring the leather sector closer to the new generations, driving initiatives that connect talent, training and industry. We firmly believe that the future of the sector depends on making it possible for all young people to discover the possibilities offered by the ecosystem and the entire value chain of the leather industry.

Leather Cluster Barcelona is an environment of competitive cooperation for promoting cross-cutting and transformative strategic projects with the aim of driving forward the ecosystem of the Catalan leather sector within the framework of Shared Value policies. The cluster is an accredited body within the Catalonia Clusters programme and has the support of Acció.
