Leather Cluster Barcelona takes part in Rec Stores

Workshops to discover and play with leather at the Adoberia Bella

On the occasion of Rec Stores, Leather Cluster Barcelona, with the collaboration of REC.0 and Igualada Town Council, has organised a children’s workshop to discover and play with leather in order to spread knowledge of it among children aged 3 to 12.

Rec.0 Experimental Stores is the transformation of Igualada’s Rec district into fashion pop-up stores. After 20 editions, Rec.0 has become a leading fashion, heritage and culture event in Catalonia, held twice a year. Almost 100 brands took part in this latest edition, which was visited by more than 100,000 people.

Leather and its tanning and finishing process are the essence of the Rec district. Fashion and the Rec district are two converging points between Rec Stores and Leather Cluster Barcelona.

The Adoberia Bella, headquarters of Leather Cluster Barcelona and located in the heart of the Rec district, hosted the leather workshop led by Sandra Sayavera with the collaboration of the Gaspar Camps municipal school of art and design, “La Gaspar”.

The leather workshop had two areas: one for an activity aimed at children and guided by instructors, and a second area for activities supervised directly by parents.

Over four days, almost 100 children were able to enjoy leather-based crafts and games. Leather is a waste product of the food industry which the tanning industry transforms into a useful, valuable product for society.

Leather Cluster Barcelona is the global, cross-cutting network made up of more than 45 companies and organisations from the value chain of the Catalan leather industry. The cluster has its capital in Igualada and its headquarters at the Adoberia Bella, the European Centre for the Interpretation of Quality Leather.

In a unique ecosystem of cooperation between business, education and science around leather, the main objective of Leather Cluster Barcelona is to combine, coordinate and energise the efforts of all the companies and stakeholders in the Catalan leather sector, in order to increase their competitiveness, improve their efficiency and drive the growth of their joint business.
