Throughout this year, 2023, different groups of professionals from the Loewe brand are visiting Leather Cluster Barcelona with the aim of deepening their knowledge of the world of leather through active learning that combines guided visits with master classes given by qualified trainers from various fields.

These tailor-made training days cover leather and its transformation process, with a visit to the Badia tannery, and sustainability, with a practical visit to IDR, the wastewater treatment plant of the Igualada tanning industry, where participants learned about the pilot plant for regenerating treated water and giving it a second life.

This training programme also includes theoretical content: on the one hand on the origin, provenance and structure of hides and skins, tanning processes and types and finishes, and on the other on the circular economy and sustainable fashion. The theoretical presentations are given at Adoberia Bella, the headquarters of Leather Cluster Barcelona.

A training experience for enjoying the world of leather as a whole through the Igualada leather ecosystem, with touches of craftsmanship, culture, industry, gastronomy, circular economy and sustainability.

This training, aimed at the professionals of the fashion house’s facilities in Getafe (Madrid), is a further step in the cooperation between Loewe and Leather Cluster Barcelona. For some time now, the iconic fashion brand and the cluster have been generating synergies and forging collaborations in areas ranging from innovation to sustainability, the circular economy and training.
