Catalonia’s leading fashion festival will offer a series of activities with leather as the star attraction
From 10 to 13 May, Rec.0 Experimental Stores will be held in the Rec district of Igualada. Rec.0 Experimental Stores is the transformation of Igualada’s Rec district into fashion pop-up stores. For four days, major local and international brands and independent and emerging fashion designers sell their stock and sample collections there at unbeatable prices.
Organised since November 2009, Rec.0, which takes place twice a year, has become a benchmark fashion, heritage and culture event in Catalonia, with some 100 brands taking part and more than 100,000 visitors.
To mark Rec.0, Leather Cluster Barcelona and the Museu de la Pell d’Igualada will once again organise a range of guided tours and talks that will form part of the festival’s cultural activities programme in this spring edition.
This year the collaboration between Rec.0 and the cluster features something new, with two different activities. In addition to enjoying free guided tours of the Cal Granotes Museum and the Curtits Badia tannery, already organised in recent years, visitors will be able to take part in a historical route led by Miquel Vila and attend a talk given by Sandra Quílez.
At the Adoberia Bella, headquarters of Leather Cluster Barcelona located in the heart of the Rec district, on Friday 12 May at 6 p.m. the talk “La Pell de Gaudí. Curar el cuir i guardar la història” will be given by Sandra Quilez, winner of the Restaura 2020 award for her work as restorer and conservator of the leather furniture designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí at Palau Güell. An invaluable and irreplaceable legacy that must be preserved for future generations.
In addition, on Saturday 13 May at 11 a.m. the route “Història d’Igualada, el Rec i les adoberies (987-1920)” will be organised, led by Miquel Vila Badia, who was linked for many years to the tanning industry of Igualada and is an expert in the history of the leather sector in the city. The route will end at the old Cal Granotes tannery, where the site can be visited freely. The meeting point for the start of this activity is Plaça Pius XII.
At Leather Cluster Barcelona we encourage you to take part in this whole series of activities with leather as the star attraction and to enjoy these four days of fashion, culture and gastronomy in Igualada’s Rec district.
