Rec Stores pays tribute to the leather industry with workshops and guided visits

Leather Cluster Barcelona is once again organising the children’s leather workshop

Rec.0 Experimental Stores is the transformation of the Rec district of Igualada into fashion pop-up stores. After 20 editions, Rec.0 has become a benchmark fashion, heritage and culture event in Catalonia, held twice a year. The last edition welcomed more than 120,000 visitors.

To mark its 10th anniversary, Rec Stores will pay tribute to the leather industry with a range of guided visits and workshops.

As part of the cultural activities of Rec 0.20, to be held from 6 to 9 November, visitors will be able to enjoy free guided visits to the Cal Granotes Museum and to the Curtits Badia tannery, and to take part in a range of open workshops.

The workshops range from learning the technique of moulding leather over a sculpture by the artist Teresa Riba, run by La Gaspar, to the creation of the “El Redondo” bag by the designer Olga Dubovik, the creative mind behind Lubochka, and the process of creating a shoe with Aldanonyfdez.

For its part, Leather Cluster Barcelona is once again organising a children’s workshop to discover and play with leather, in order to spread knowledge of it among children aged 3 to 12.

Adoberia Bella, the headquarters of Leather Cluster Barcelona located in the heart of the Rec district, will host the sessions of the leather workshop throughout the days of Rec Stores, led by Sandra Sayavera with the collaboration of the Gaspar Camps municipal school of art and design, “La Gaspar”.

The children’s leather workshop has two areas: one for an activity aimed at children and guided by monitors, and a second area for activities supervised directly by parents.

From Wednesday 6 to Saturday 9 November, children will be able to enjoy leather-based crafts and games and will learn that hides are a by-product of the food industry which the tanning industry transforms into a useful and valuable product for society.
