ALDANONDOYFDEZ is a 100% handcrafted fashion label founded by Ignacio Aldanondo and Catuxa Fernández, who design and make footwear of excellence in their Barcelona workshop.

Catuxa and Ignacio are two architects who learned the traditional shoemaking trade from two master craftsmen: Josep Cunillera and Carlos Piñol. The combination of their professional experience in architecture and design with their passion for shoemaking craftsmanship as it was practised 200 years ago has resulted in ALDANONDOYFDEZ, a designer footwear brand that is enjoying great success in the United States and Japan.

Top-quality leather from Catalan tanners, a love of manual work, creativity and control over every point of the process from beginning to end are the keys to the success and the hallmarks of ALDANONDOYFDEZ.

But in addition to their mission to preserve the integrity of craftsmanship in order to create shoes of unique quality and design, at ALDANONDOYFDEZ they are committed to sustainable fashion. They work only with leather from animals raised for food, a raw material made from the recovery of a waste product of the food sector that is transformed into a long-lasting natural product that can last a lifetime. With this raw material they manufacture exclusive shoes, made to last: a project that is sustainable by definition, disregarding fast-consumption trends, in a clear commitment by Catuxa and Ignacio to sustainable fashion.

The outstanding work of Ignacio Aldanondo and Catuxa Fernández led them to win the 2019 National Craft Award in the entrepreneurship category, institutional recognition at the highest level granted by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism to those achievements generally recognised as excellent and exemplary in the field of contemporary craftsmanship.

Their professional standing and the outstanding quality of their handmade shoes have aroused the interest not only of customers all over the world but also of the design industry. ALDANONDOYFDEZ carried out a collaboration project with Jorge Penadés, an internationally renowned designer known for his work based on recycling and rethinking objects. The circular economy project between ALDANONDOYFDEZ and Jorge Penadés consisted of the creation of a new material and of made-to-order, made-to-measure shoes manufactured from discarded leather and hide offcuts.
